Our main dining room is actually a gift shop adorned with some of the most exquisite Polish Pottery you have ever seen! This unique European pottery is classified as stoneware, a very hard product shaped from opaque, white clay of the highest quality. The artisans, located in Boleslawiec, Poland, specialize in the authentic traditionally glazed, hand-painted and sponge-stamped stoneware. Each piece is designed and adorned in adherence to a celebrated heritage. Some of the most famous original designs include those commissioned by renowned Frederick the Great, King of Prussia from 1740-1786!
Polish Pottery is oven, microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe because the artists carefully select their clays and bake them at a temperature of 2,246 degrees Fahrenheit. The artisans also coat each piece with a transparent, protective glaze in order to make them chip resistant and easy to clean. The colors used by the artisans are chosen according to Polish custom and include cobalt blues, greens, reddish browns. Polish Pottery does not contain lead.
Polish Pottery is both beautiful and versatile and can be used for cooking, serving, dining and decorative art. We encourage our patrons to use their pottery as often as possible rather than keep it in a curio cabinet. Each piece is crafted for both attractiveness and continuous use. And many of our customers buy our pottery for wedding or birthday gifts, not to mention Christmas!
So please feel free to come into our Cheese Ladies Polish Pottery shop while visiting Serendipity Cottage. The pottery is absolutely beautiful to look at and never disappoints!
